New Year, New Marketing Plan

As we ring in another new year it’s time to think about growing your business. Every year as the ball drops you make a resolution to buckle down and get serious about your growth. Except, like clockwork, each year you slowly lose the momentum to grow your company and settle for merely getting by. What if you could leave this mindset in the past and make this year THE YEAR you start taking marketing seriously.

In order to stay on schedule and hold yourself accountable, there’s a pretty easy solution. By making a simple marketing plan you can put your goals on paper and visually see when you reach them. Your plan can be as detailed or straightforward as you would like it to be. This is your marketing plan, write it for you!

To begin your marketing plan, determine where your business is now and where you want to be by the end of the year. Explore marketing tools that can help you get there. Examples of possible goals can be…

  • Grow Facebook following by creating and sticking to a monthly posting schedule

  • Participate in a bi-monthly networking event

  • Create an email list

  • Consider community partnerships if applicable

  • Update signage and advertising material

After creating your monthly goals within your marketing plan, it’s time to implement. Each month focus on the goals that you have set for yourself and your business. We recommend creating a table with a box for each month of the year. Within each month’s box, make a couple of bullet points that will give space for the tasks you will achieve that month to reach your goals.  By honing in on a few tasks each month, you won’t overwhelm yourself and your goals will become attainable.
